The Old Colony Rail Trail is a paved trail completed in 2004 connecting to the Cape Cod Rail Trail at the Harwich Bike Rotary.
This section of rail trail is worth doing for riders looking to make a day out of sightseeing by bike.
From Orleans Cycle it is approximately 18 miles to the end of the Old Colony Rail Trail on Crowell Rd.
You will ride by several beautiful ponds, parks and cranberry bogs. In downtown Harwich stop by Brooks Park on the right day
and you may encounter a craft fair or antique show.
The Talkative Pig is a quick side trip off the trail (right) at the Morton Rd. street crossing offering Mediterranean inspired salads and pizza (craft beer too!)
Hangar B Eatery at the Chatham Airport is a great little place to stop for lunch and watch the comings and goings of
small planes and maybe a brave sky diver or two.
From the trail head on Crowell rd you may continue your trip on-road in and around Chatham center
down to the fish pier and Chatham Light.
On-road routes may not be suitable for kids on bikes, also please note
the yellow posts are closer together and may not allow some tow behind trailers to pass between.
