Notes on the Trek skewer recall...
A number of model year 2000 through 2015 Trek bicycles were made with a quick-release lever that opens past 180°. If the quick release is improperly adjusted or left open, the quick release lever can become caught in the front wheel disc. If this happens, the front wheel could separate or come to a sudden stop and the rider could lose control of the bicycle.
This recall affects disc-brake equipped bikes only.
Consumers may call the Trek safety and recall hotline at 800.373.4594.
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TAKEN BY TREK
For the model year 2015, Trek did a running spec change to a different quick release with a lever that cannot contact the front disc brake assembly when open. That means that some of your 2015 inventory may be affected.
We will notify consumers by sending a letter to each owner of an affected bicycle who registered his or her bicycle with us. Further, we will post notice of this recall on our consumer web site at www.trekbikes.com.
Consumers will be directed to bring their bicycle to a retailer for a replacement quick release if desired.
